At nicegear.co.nz we want to be open about how our content is made. We use artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool in our editorial process – but every text is reworked, fact-checked and edited by a person before it is published. This page explains how that works.
How we use AI
We use the AI tool Claude (developed by Anthropic, claude.ai) to make parts of our work more efficient – for example gathering research, structuring an article and producing a first draft. AI helps us work faster and cover technical topics thoroughly.
AI is always an aid, though – never the final word. Nothing is published in the form it leaves the AI tool.
Our human editing
After the draft stage, an editor takes over. This is where the most important part of the work happens. Among other things, we:
- Fact-check every detail against reliable primary sources, such as manufacturers’ documentation, providers’ published plans and terms, official project documentation and the Commerce Commission.
- Correct and remove information that is wrong, out of date or misleading – including specifications, prices and features that have changed.
- Rework the language so the text is clear, accurate and easy to read, even for someone new to the subject.
- Add context and practical experience that an AI tool cannot contribute on its own, such as what actually matters when you set a device up in a New Zealand home.
- Make sure the content is original and not copied from other websites.
The goal is that you as a reader always get content that is correct, useful and written for people – not for search engines.
Why we are open about it
We believe in transparency. Explaining how our articles are made is a matter of trust: you should be able to rely on what you read here and know how it was produced.
We also follow Google’s guidance on helpful, reliable content. What matters under that guidance is that content is accurate and created to help people – whether or not AI was involved in making it. That is the principle we work to.
Fact-checking and responsibility
Everything published on nicegear.co.nz is covered by editorial responsibility. An editor reviews the material, and we update our pages as facts change – for example prices, plans, software versions or network coverage. AI tools can produce statements that sound confident but are wrong, which is exactly why no claim is published without a person checking it. You can find out more about us on our About us page.
Our content is information – not advice
Our articles are informative and descriptive. They are general information, not personal technical, financial or purchasing advice, and they cannot take your particular setup into account. Check important details with the manufacturer or provider before you buy or install anything.
Where we cover gambling-related topics, the content is not an encouragement to gamble and is not gambling advice. Those pages are intended for adults aged 18 and over. You are welcome to read more about responsible gambling.
Found an error?
We aim for everything to be correct, but mistakes can still slip through. If you spot something that is wrong, we would be grateful if you let us know through our contact page, and we will fix it as soon as we can.
