All about nice technology & nicegear
nicegear was started by, and is primarily run by, Hadley Rich (that's him in the picture) from the town of Timaru in the central South Island of New Zealand. It's a spawn of nice technology, his consulting business.
We use and recommend Linux and open source products so the hardware for sale here is aimed at this market, although not tied to it. We test all the hardware for interoperability with Linux and open source software.
All the hardware we supply through the site is sourced from the manufacturer or through their official distributors. This means you can be sure the products are original and you get the support of a local warranty.
As well as using open source software we like to contribute back to the community as well. One way we do this is through offering bug fixes and enhancements to the software we use. Another way we contribute is through sponsorship, nice technology sponsors the New Zealand VoIP Users Group. If you're a user group or open source project interested in sponsorship, feel free to contact us and have a chat about how we can help you.
All the computers here run free software, they have done for over a decade. Currently we're using Ubuntu Linux as our primary operating system on desktops, laptops and servers. Ubuntu Linux tries to bring the Ubuntu philosophy to the world of operating systems.
If you're a company or individual who believes in the same sort of things as us and would like to work with us then by all means drop us a line, we'd love to hear from you.
